I think everybody wants to help but we don’t know what we can do. The only thing I know how to do is take photos (my most recent book is This is What a Librarian Looks like: A Celebration of Libraries, Communities, and Access to Information), so I’m taking photos of the people who actually are helping. When most everything stops moving it suddenly becomes very clear who’s keeping us alive. If you’re a doctor, nurse, driver, clerk, or someone else putting yourself between this virus and the rest of us and you’re in West Philly, I’d like to take a portrait of you … from a safe distance.
Know someone whose story needs to be told?
We’re looking for people to photograph in West Philadelphia. Doctors, nurses, grocery clerks, Instacart drivers, delivery people, everybody putting themselves physically between us and this virus. Let me know.
